The Bellingham Arts Commission is accepting nominations for the 29th Annual Mayor's Arts Awards. Nomination deadline is February 22, 2008.
The Bellingham Arts Commission annually accepts nominations for Mayor's Arts Awards to honor Bellingham citizens who have significantly contributed to the arts in our community. Accomplishments by individual artists, businesses, benefactors, organizations, arts educators, arts supporters, civic improvement leaders or notable events or achievements are all possible areas for Mayor's Arts Awards.
Past recipients represent a wide variety of visual, performing and cultural art endeavors by talented and dedicated community members.
"I look forward to continuing this legacy of annually acknowledging Bellingham's vibrant and diverse art community," said Mayor Dan Pike.
Individuals and organizations are encouraged to nominate candidates for these awards. A special award titled "Living Treasure" is intended to honor an outstanding body of work over an extended period of time, by someone who has enhanced the community's appreciation and enjoyment of the arts.
