City seeks nominations for 28th annual Mayor's Arts Awards

The Bellingham Arts Commission is accepting nominations for the 28th Annual Mayor's Arts Awards, designed to honor citizens who have significantly contributed to the arts in our community. Deadline for nominations is February 16, 2007.

Accomplishments by individual artists, businesses, benefactors, organizations, arts educators, arts supports, civic improvement leaders or notable events or achievements are all possible areas for Mayor's Arts Awards. Individuals and organizations are encouraged to nominate candidates for these awards.

A special award titled "Living Treasure" is intended to honor an outstanding body of work over an extended period of time, by someone who has enhanced the community's appreciation and enjoyment of the arts.

Bellingham Mayor Tim Douglas said artists recognized in the past represent a rich variety of visual, performing and cultural works. "Bellingham is fortunate to have a vibrant, diverse arts community that provides an outstanding pool of talent for these special awards," he said.
