Seth Fleetwood was elected to the Bellingham City Council At-large position after serving on the County Council from 2002 until 2010. His current term runs through 2013. He serves as Chair of the Council's Lake Whatcom Reservoir and Natural Resources Committee and the; Parks and Recreation Committee, and is a member of the Planning and Community Development Committee and the Public Works and Public Safety Committee. He also serves as a Council representative to the City's Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, County Open Space Committee and the Bellingham Sister Cities Advisory Board.
Seth was born and raised in Bellingham, graduating from Sehome High School in 1981. Upon graduation Seth worked as a king crab processer near Dutch Harbor AK and worked in the berry fields at Boxx Berry farm before participating in a foreign exchange in Greece in 1982. He attended the University of Washington, graduating in 1986. Seth moved to Washington DC in 1987 and worked in congressional offices, including that of former Bellingham Congressman Al Swift. In 1989 Seth began law school in Salem, Oregon, graduating from Willamette University School of Law in 1992. After fishing for a season in Prince William Sound Seth returned to Bellingham in the Fall of 1993 and began practicing law from his Fairhaven law office. Seth has served on the Bellingham Greenways Committee, The Clean Water Alliance, the Bellingham City Club Board and is the current President of the Chuckanut Conservancy.
