The City of Bellingham Hearing Examiner will hold a public hearing to take testimony on the following proposals:

1. VAR2014-00011: Consideration of a Variance request from the 20-foot setback requirement to allow the construction of two 14' 4" tall, 12' wide rainwater storage tanks zero feet from the Carolina Street property line. The property is located at 2221 Pacific Street, and legally described as Lot A Central Shops Short Plat as Rec Book 3 Short Plats Pg. 18. James Simpson, Facilities Project Manager, Public Works Department, applicant; City of Bellingham, owner. Public, Governmental Services Land Use Designation. Roosevelt Neighborhood, Area 10.

2. SUB2013-00036 / VAR2014-00008 / SEP2014-00006: Short Plat application (the Huntley Short Plat #2450) and associated Variances to subdivide a 64,651 square foot parcel, with an existing single-family residence, into a total of five lots. Variances include elimination of the requirement to dedicate an additional 30 feet of right-of-way on Whatcom Street, and construction of Whatcom Street to Residential Street Standards. A Variance is also proposed to eliminate the requirement to construct a five-foot wide sidewalk along Newton Street adjacent to the subject property. The property is located at 2204 Whatcom Street (lengthy legal). Todd Fuller, applicant/owner. Residential Single Land Use Designation. Whatcom Fall Neighborhood, Area 8.

The full applications are available for viewing at the address listed below. Staff reports will be available at the Planning Department approximately one week before the hearing.

You may comment on the proposal by sending written comments to the Planning Department, City Hall, 210 Lottie Street, Bellingham, WA 98225. All written comments should be received during office hours before the hearing, or you may submit them at the hearing if you include an additional copy for the recording secretary. You may also request a copy of the Hearing Examiner’s decision and your appeal rights.
